Something is better than Nothing

Everyone struggles at times making it to the Box whether it be because you are sore from the day before, you do not want to aggravate a muscle or joint, or struggling to find time because you are having a hectic week.  

Sometimes the best medicine for a sore muscle is to work the muscle lightly to create blood flow for regrowth.  At CF WOR you will always have the option to scale down a workout.  Safety is always the number one priority!  If something does not feel right, the Coaches are there to help you scale as needed.  With safety in mind the Coaches also have the ability to modify any workout if you have some kind of history if injury or any type of injury.  Keep it MOVING!! 

I myself am speaking from experience over the past month or so.   Over this time, I have bought and sold a house, lost a family member and this is the busiest time of the year for my job (Oklahoma Air National Guard Recruiter).  All of these on their own can be enough to make some struggle to find the time.  While I was going through these situations and absolutely felt like I could not make it to the Box I would do little things to make myself move.  I work on the Air National Guard base and almost on a daily basis I have to go across the base for a meeting.  The easiest way for me to keep moving is to walk to the meeting instead of taking a car.  It’s not much, but it’s something.  On days that I am teaching the 530am class I would come in early and do some back squats, deadlifts, or Mobility.  Even if it is only for 15 minutes, I would make my muscles and joints do something.  I know not everyone has the opportunity to do back squats or deadlifts from home or work, but you can always do bodyweight movements as an alternative.  For mobility, Lacrosse balls are fairly inexpensive and small enough to fit in your purse, backpack or lunch pail.

Fitness and health are two things that go hand in hand.  There will be times when you feel like it is impossible to do anything with your sore muscles.  It’s not!  Come on in and let the Coaches help you find the scaled version for you.  There might be times when you think that a certain workout will aggravate something.  Come on in and let the Coaches help you modify the workout. And there might be times that it is impossible to make it to the Box.  Go for a walk, do some Air Squats, do some mobility.  Just keep moving, Something is Better than Nothing.
