What is the CrossFit Open?

The CrossFit Open is the biggest and second most awesome competition in the world. It’s the beginning of the CrossFit Games Qualifier, and the best part is, everyone does it. Yes, everyone. Long before the CF Games air on ESPN, it all starts with qualifying for Regionals via The Open. The best part is, none of us are going to be on ESPN this year competing at the Games, so there’s no pressure. We do it for experience, we do it to challenge ourselves, and most importantly, we do it for fun.

There is an Rx and Scaled Division, so EVERY member of our gym can compete. Here is a quick glimpse at what it’s all about

In the video, you may have heard things like “muscle ups,” pull ups,” and other things that scared you. But guess what? There is an Rx and a Scaled division, AND you can even scale it down further if necessary.

If you are nervous and in need of a good excuse, watch this video, you might be able to come up with something good (watch until the end).

What is the CFWOR Open?

The CFWOR Open is THE most awesome competition in the world! We believe that we can bring the worldwide thrill of the CF Games home and deliver all the fun of competition without causing any anxiety attacks!  Our goals are to educate and inspire: competition helps with the ‘inspire’ part: the pressure to perform pushes you to train harder; the social boost of dozens of your best friends cheering for you will help you reach a higher plane.

Through the Open we will have Four Intramural teams. They don’t have names yet but their captains are:

Team #2: Kelly

Team #3: Billie

Team #4: Kimberly

Yep, we chose the FUN bunch to be your leaders! They will be randomly drafting those who register for the Open by January 31st, and then they will be recruiting the rest of you – come on, are you really gonna say no to Kimberly?

+1 point: Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout at WOR each week earns one point. Maximum one point per athlete per workout. This goes for Rx and Scaled competitors

+1 point: Top 3: every male AND female member who places among the Top 3 at WOR for each workout (Rx only) gets an extra point for their team

+5 points (team): Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points – this is the BIG one! Matching t-shirts, new cheers, most fans…it can all count!

Thursday, February 25th @ 7:00pm: Open WOD #1 announcement

Friday, February 26th @ 6:30pm: Friday Night Lights #1 – Open WOD 1

Friday, March 4th @ 6:30pm – Open WOD 2

Friday, March 11th @ 6:30pm – Open WOD 3

Friday, March 18th @6:30pm – Open WOD 4

Friday, March 25th @6:30pm – Open WOD 5

There will be one make up time slot each week if needed (During Sunday Funday), but if you have to miss a week or two, it’s not the end of the world.

Prizes: We will have some random draws each week for prizes, including swag, supplements, and training packages. The top team will also earn a GRAND prize – details soon!

Our focus is on FUN. We want participation because it will make you fitter, and it will get you high-fives and you’ll be happy and love life more and glow and stuff.
